Client Services

1. Do I need a physician's referral to access services at KidsAbility?
No. We accept referrals directly from parents/legal guardians for all services we provide.

2. I've been told my child is "too young" to access services from KidsAbility.
KidsAbility staff provide services to newborns and infants...your child is never "too young".

3. If I live in the Cambridge area or Wellington County do I have to contact those sites to make a referral?
No. All referrals for service are made through our Waterloo office.

4. Who has access to my child's information?
You have access to your child's information, as do all team members at KidsAbility who provide services to your child. No one else has access without either your written or verbal consent.

Business Services

1. Does the government fund all of your services?
No. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provides about 90% of our costs and KidsAbility is required to fundraise the other 10%. This means we must fundraise from our community between $700,000 and $800,000 each year to operate our services.

2. Who runs KidsAbility?
We are governed by an elected board of directors. These directors represent a cross-section of the communities that are served by KidsAbility. Directors volunteer their time and receive no remuneration. The organization is staffed by professionals who are specifically trained and licensed to carry out their roles with clients.

3. How do I get information about the organization?
You may obtain information in several ways. You may review our annual report and audited financial statements online by clicking on the "annual reports" button on the left side of this screen. You may also email questions to any member of our Leadership Team through our contacts" section. Or, you may write, fax or telephone our Waterloo site.
