What is Autism Intervention Services (A.I.S.)?

Autism Intervention Services (A.I.S.) is a collaborative effort of community agencies spanning the Central West Region of Ontario.  ErinoakKids in Mississauga, as the lead agency of the initiative in the Central West Region, is directly responsible to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services regarding all aspects of the program. 
KidsAbility delivers the funded A.I.S. services in Guelph-Wellington and Waterloo Region on behalf of ErinoakKids.

Autism Intervention Services (A.I.S.)  provides the following services:

  • Assessment to determine eligibility for receipt of program services
  • Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) programming to children who qualify for program services
  • Psychosocial support services
  • Transition to school support for children entering the school system
  • Workshops for family members who wish to supplement their child's therapy

What is Included in the AIS Assessment?

The AIS Assessment team will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your child's areas of strengths, and the challenges he/she faces in order to determine eligibility and suitability for receipt of IBI services. More specifically, assessment covers the following areas:
  • Cognition 
  • Communication 
  • Adaptive functioning 
  • Behaviour
