The Work of the Centre of Excellence

In addition to the knowledge sharing and partnership development work the Centre of Excellence has a number of other initiatives in support of the KidsAbility 2020 Strategic Directions.

  • Community Forums - Watch for more information on KidsAbility knowledge sharing forums
  • Transition to Adulthood - The Moving On Study resulted in a Community Transitions Committee
  • Best Practices - Clinical staff involved in documenting best practices
  • Research Projects - KidsAbility is often involved in research with Bloorview Research Institute, McMaster University and University of Waterloo. For information on our process for reviewing opportunities click here.
  • CLASS Project - To define new clinical classification and service delivery model to ensure we utilize resources to the fullest potential
  • Enhanced Services - Building physician support and community relations for more resources. We are working with McMaster University for access to a Developmental Paediatrician to serve Waterloo Region
  • Early Learning - How can we support the Ministry of Education Early Learning agenda and school readiness?
  • Enhanced Access to Information - Website redevelopment and enhancement of Information Resources
  • KidsAbility as a Learning Centre – We support over 50 student placements each year across all disciplines
  • Continuing Education - We are commitment to international, inter-professional learning opportunities such as conferences (Academy of Cerebral Palsy & Developmental Medicine, and Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres)
  • Accessibility and Inclusion Priorites - Ensuring we are barrier-free, culturally aware and inclusive
  • Leveraging Technology - Access to Electronic Child Health Network (eCHN); accepted into eHealth Ontario ONE Network. Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) enabled for health services via telemedicine
