ECE Outreach Programs
There are no fees for any ECE services offered by KidsAbility.
ECE Outreach is a service that promotes and supports the inclusion of children who have special needs or disabilities in community preschool or day care programs.
With the goal of achieving a successful day care placement for each child, Resource Consultants:
- assist parents to learn about the child care system, fee subsidies and the potential benefits of child care for their child
- carry out developmental screening assessments
- work with the parents and Early Childhood Educators in the community program to develop effective teaching strategies for each child’s Individual Service Plan
- consult to the child care program once the child has begun to attend
- provide information about other services and the school system
- assist the family in getting other services eg. additional classroom support or referrals to other services
- loan toys and materials to the classroom as needed
- help with the child’s entry into the school system
Referrals
- Eligibility is from 0 – 6 years, up to entry into Grade One
- Parents can make referrals for Resource Consultation services by calling the child care Special Needs Access Point (SNAP) at 519-741-0076
- Referrals can also be made by KidsAbility staff with the consent of the parent
