Staff And Volunteer Responsibilities
- Treat all clients and their families, staff, volunteers, colleagues and members of the public fairly, objectively and with respect
- Respect the unique characteristics of clients, families, volunteers, staff members and colleagues. These may include: ethnic origin, socio-economic status, culture, gender, education, marital status, sexual orientation, religious values and disability
- KidsAbility’s vision, mission and belief statements are used when planning, monitoring and making decisions
- Client and family information is confidential and is not disclosed without consent
- Consent for service is based on communicating relevant information clearly, fully and honestly
- The client and family’s rights to participate in service decisions and to make informed choices regarding services is respected
- Clients and families are treated equitably. Services are based on a client’s needs within the limits of resources available to KidsAbility and are coordinated with other services
- Do not exploit any relationship that could be construed as a conflict of interest or as emotional, physical or sexual abuse
- Present qualifications honestly and practice within the limits of competence as determined by education, training and professional experience
- Participate in continuing education programs designed to improve service quality
Client And Family Responsibilities

- Treat service providers, other clients and their families in a courteous, considerate and cooperative manner
- Maintain client confidentiality – do not disclose information about children and families without the families’ consent
- Provide complete and accurate information to support KidsAbility services
- Participate in service provision, in setting goals and following a mutually agreed upon plan
- Raise any concerns or question about service in a timely manner and make the appropriate team member(s) aware of such concerns
- Inform the team member(s) if you do not understand something such as the service plan or instructions provided
- Recognize that the amount of service is based on a client’s needs and the available resources of KidsAbility
- Respect KidsAbility services by notifying KidsAbility in advance if you are unable to attend appointments or programs
- Respect the property of KidsAbility and abide by any guidelines for its use
Board And Management Responsibilities

- Board Members, staff and business partners are accountable for compliance with professional standards, including ethical behaviour
- Participate in quality improvement activities designed to improve all aspects of the operation of KidsAbility
