People with disabilities should have the same kind of opportunities as everyone else. They should be able to move around from place to place, go shopping, get a job, eat out, or go to school — just like everyone else. And it is the law under the Ministry of Community and Social Services. The purpose of the Ontario Disabilities Act (ODA) is to improve opportunities for people with disabilities and to provide for their involvement in the identification, removal, and prevention of barriers to their full participation in the life of the province. KidsAbility, as a not-for-profit organization, is committed to achieving full compliance with the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service by the required January 1st, 2012 date. As an organization that supplies services to children and youth with disabilities, we already have a number of the Standards in place.
