We believe Community Forums provide an opportunity for multi-disciplinary, cross sector learning. They bring us together in a common learning journey so collectively we can better our children and families with special needs. We are currently hosting an annual Austim Forum and FASD Forum.
We also believe:
- Students enhance and extend KidsAbility services to families
- Students in educational fields related to the KidsAbility mission are able to enhance and extend their practical experience
- KidsAbility is committed to an established process for on-going placement and support of students
Procedure
- All students must comply with the requirements for Volunteering at KidsAbility
- Medical students are facilitated through the Director of Medical Services at KidsAbility
- Placements for students in professional programs related to KidsAbility services such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Recreation Therapy or Therapy Aide, etc. are the primary responsibility of the Profession Lead or their delegate
- Post Secondary level students seeking applied placements not in a specific KidsAbility “job class” or discipline, are reviewed and corodinated by the Director of Client Services. Job shadowing inquiries are also directed to the Director of Client Services for consideration.
- Volunteers seeking placements to support their practical experience and application to professional programs, or to complete the 40 hours requirement, are the responsibility of the Coordinator of Volunteer Services
- Grade 9 is the minimum level to accept job-shadowing requests
