Tiny Dancer
One of the highlights of three-year old Claire’s life has been her weekly dance class and preparing for the big recital. As her mother watched her, tears filled her eyes for this was a day she had always dreamed of: a dream that she never thought would be possible.
“Before Claire was born and I dreamed of having a little girl, I always had visions of my little girl attending dance class. When Claire was born and we received the news of her diagnosis I had to put that dream to the side,” says Claire’s mom, Leanne. “Given her physical challenges and all the unknowns for her future it just didn’t seem like it would ever be possible. We didn’t know if she would survive and if she did if she would be able to walk let alone dance. However, Claire worked really hard and had a lot of help from KidsAbility.”
Claire’s therapists worked with her and she grew to be stronger and gain the confidence she would need to participate in her class right alongside with her friends.
“KidsAbility gave Claire the ability to dance in that class, and do a great job. They gave me my dream back. KidsAbility helped make it come true and I am so grateful for that gift. The dreams that parents have for their kids seem to be a little less far away because of the hope and the encouragement they are given at KidsAbility. Dreams do come true!” |
