Guelph Wellington Referral Information - KidsAbility serves children and youth from birth to eighteen years of age who have developmental, physical and communication delays or disabilities
- The range of services may include assessment, therapy, mediator model intervention, consultation, home programming, equipment recommendations and referrals to other services, as needed
- Referrals can be done by family physicians, paediatric specialists, or parents and caregivers can self-refer their child if they feel there is a development issue of concern. Some programs require a referral by a therapist.
- Children may also be identified for an assessment through a Community Health Fair or regional screening programs in licensed Child Care Centres (e.g. SPOT, Wee Talk)
Once a child is on the KidsAbility caseload they may be referred into specific programs and services (e.g. technical resources, orthotics clinic, Stay and Play etc).

Eligibility criteria for early years children
- Live in Waterloo Region or Guelph Wellington
- Have concerns related to developmental, physical or communication delays or disabilities
- From birth up to Junior Kindergarten until they become eligible for a Senior Kindergarten program
- Behavioural Intervention for children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder for children under six years of age
Eligibility criteria for school years children
- Live in Waterloo Region
- Have a physical or developmental disability
- Attend a community school or eligible for a senior kindergarten program and up to eighteen years of age
- Children who have physical needs and require intervention to maintain, restore or improve daily functioning at home and in the community may continue to receive some services directly from KidsAbility
- Specific eligibility criteria are available from the School Years Programs
- The types of services provided are influenced by community needs, other resources available in the community and financial resources provided by various provincial ministries
- Children can be seen individually or in a small group by one service provider or a team of service providers
- Children are referred to and/or transitioned to other services within the community and to regional and provincial programs as needs are identified
