Our service packages have been carefully designed to meet the unique needs of our families. Our team works closely with you to create a personalized plan to meet your child’s specific challenges and ensure they receive the support they need to thrive.

Behaviour Therapy Services

Our 1:1 Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps children develop important skills while reducing challenging behaviors. Your child will work one-on-one with a skilled Instructor Therapist under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Eligibility: Children aged 0-9+ years. No specific diagnosis is required.

Locations: We offer services both at home or in the community (additional travel charges may apply) and at KidsAbility locations in Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, or Waterloo.

Packages: We offer different service package options, including 2.5-hour, 3-hour, and full-day (7-hour) packages. You can also combine 1:1 packages with group package offerings based on availability. Service recommendations will be made to determine the most appropriate duration that suits your child and their needs.

Our Combination Behavior Supports offer a mix of group therapy and one-on-one sessions tailored to your child’s individual goals. These full-day sessions are designed for children with moderate to limited support needs and are supervised by a BCBA and ran by skilled Instructor Therapists.
These sessions focus on building emerging foundational skills for:

  • Communication,
  • Daily living skills,
  • Social and play skills,
  • Learning readiness and pre-academic skills, and
  • Self-regulation.

Eligibility: Children aged 3-9 years can participate in these groups, and no specific diagnosis is required.

Location: Waterloo

Packages: Full-day (7 hours)

Our Group Behaviour Supports are designed to help children develop emotional regulation and communication skills in a fun and supportive environment. Our groups help your child take the skills learned and apply them to real-life situations with a variety of individuals (including peers and therapists).

These groups are led by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and skilled Instructor Therapists. Our supports include:

  • Individualized goal setting
  • Ongoing data collection and analysis
  • Data-driven decision-making with BCBA supervision
  • Mid-term & End-term progress reports
  • Guided parent observations
  • Recommendations for applying learned skills in real-life situations

Eligibility: Children aged 4-12+ years

Locations: Waterloo, Cambridge

Packages: 2-hour sessions

No referral is required to register for Behaviour Support Services.

All children between 0-9+ are eligible.

While no diagnosis is required, all our Behaviour Support Services offerings meet the requirements for Core Clinical Services and are eligible for reconciliation and reimbursement with the Ontario Autism Program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Diagnosis

KidsAbility provides families with a range of therapy and services for their child or youth with physical, communication, behavioural or developmental challenges—regardless of if they have a diagnosis or not.

Families can receive a diagnosis of autism from qualified professionals with expertise and who have undergone specific training. These include family physicians, pediatricians and developmental pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychological associates, and nurse practitioners. Children can also be referred by their doctor to the Autism Diagnostic Hub, KidsAbility is a partner and supports with Hub referrals for Central West. CMHA supports for Guelph area referrals. Please connect with your doctor for referral to the Autism Diagnostic Hub in your area.

Services

Packages are purchased through a consultation call with one of our Goal Planning Specialists. Our Goal Planning Specialists have years of clinical experiences that will help inform their service recommendations.  In this call you will discuss the goals you have for your child and our specialists will make a service recommendation. These calls usually last approximately 30 minutes.

We will work with you to build a plan that fits within your budget and goals for your child. More details about cost will be available during your consultation.

KidsAbility is pleased to offer a variety of ABA services across our sites.  For information on which services may be available, please contact us.  Currently, ABA services are not available on the weekend.   

KidsAbility’s services are all-inclusive and there are no hidden fees for things like supplies, administrative costs or toys. Services that are available for purchase include:

  • Parent Coaching and Consultation
  • 1:1 Applied Behaviour Analysis Therapy
  • Social Skills Groups
  • Combination Therapy – an mix of 1:1 and small group therapy

Yes. All KidsAbility Behaviour Support Services are overseen by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst which means they are eligible for reconciliation and reimbursement with the Ontario Autism Program. Our team will provide receipts in a timely manner which will include all information needed to ensure reconciliation with the Ontario Autism Program.

ABA, is an evidence-based and scientific approach to understanding learning and behaviour. The approach is used to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviour by adjusting the environment and teaching methods match the child’s individual needs.
