Ready, Set, Learn! -Kitchener - BSS Social Skills Group

Ready, Set, Learn is designed to enhance early social skills within a structured group-learning framework through routine, repetition and peer interaction. During this group, participants will have the opportunity to practice attending to an instructor, following instructions, turn taking with others, sharing and communication with peers through interactive lessons, modeling, group games and various structured activities.

To improve group social and learning readiness skills through:

• Behaviour Skills Training on topics (instruction, modelling, rehearsal, feedback)
• Prompting and reinforcement to teach priority goals each session
• Data collection to assess acquisition of priority goals

Group Goals:

• To request items from peers
• To play in close proximity to peers (parallel play)
• To play with peers using the same toy
• To take turns with toys using visuals
• To take items from peers when offered

Families will receive a summary of recommendations outlining the strategies developed through each week of group to continue to apply your learning in other settings. By registering for this group, you are committing to attending all session dates.

Dates: Wednesdays in Kitchener from 2:00pm-4:00pm January 25th to March 29th, 2023.
