Camp Information
December 12, 2022 – Regretfully,
KidsAbility will not be offering any social and recreation summer camps in
2023. This is due to a variety of competing priorities and the allocation
of staff to other projects.
While KidsAbility will not be offering these types of camps in 2023, we will continue to support clients and families in choosing the right social and recreation offering(s) for their child in the upcoming year. This will be done through a variety of upcoming Summer Camp Planning Workshops and Summer Camp Fairs. For more information, please see the details below.
Summer Camp Planning Workshops 2023:
These virtual workshops are designed to give parents and service providers the information they need to plan a successful summer camp experience for children with special needs. Registrants will receive a Teams link via email the morning of the workshop.
At these workshops, you’ll learn about the resources and support unique to each community:
- The different types of inclusion supports available and how to access them
- Funding options for camp fees and specialized supports
- Sharing information about your child
- Preparing your child for camp

Virtual Camp Fairs
- Waterloo Region and Guelph-Wellington:
In partnership with the Waterloo Region Family Network and Supporting Kids in Camp, KidsAbility is hosting a series of Summer Camp Fairs to showcase camps who provide programming and/or supports for campers with special needs.
At these free virtual events, you’ll learn more about summer camp opportunities for children, youth, and young adults with special needs in Waterloo Region, Guelph-Wellington, and beyond.
Summer
Camp Fair #1 – Overnight Camps in Waterloo Region, Guelph Wellington, and
Beyond
The first virtual camp fair will focus on overnight camps that specialize in programming for individuals with special needs as well as overnight camps that have inclusion programs that provide additional supports for campers with special needs to participate in mainstream programs.

Summer
Camp Fair #2 – Day Camps for Children, Aged 4-12 (Guelph/Wellington)
Will
focus on day camps in Guelph and Wellington County that specialize in
programming for children with special needs as well as those that have
inclusion programs to provide additional supports for campers with special

Guelph-Wellington)
Will focus on camps and summer programs in Waterloo Region and
Guelph-Wellington that provide day programming or getaways for teens and young
adults with disabilities.
