Music Therapy
KidsAbility is pleased to offer Music Therapy with Accredited Music Therapists as a Purchase Service option open to all ages.
Participation in a music program can facilitate and develop:
- Attention span
- Listening skills and cooperation
- Social skills, sense of accomplishment and belonging
- Confidence and self-esteem while reducing anxiety
- Verbal and non-verbal communication
- Self-expression and creativity
- Emotional awareness
- Motor skills and coordination
One to One Music Therapy Sessions:
Our Music Therapists offer individualized music therapy services. Each 45 minute session is customized to your child's strengths, challenges, and treatment goals. Speech, Behavioural, Emotional, and Psychological goals can be addressed through a large variety of treatment interventions such as active listening, improvisation, songwriting, singing and instrument playing. Music Therapy appointments are offered in person currently at the Waterloo and Cambridge KidsAbility sites.
Note: Some benefit plans may cover Music Therapy Services. It is the responsibility of the family to determine whether Music Therapy expenses are covered by benefit plans, OAP, SSAH or other funding sources.
Appointments are Available at the following Locations:
Waterloo Site: Thursdays, 45 minute sessions
available between 3:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. (see dates/times below)
Effective May 5, 2022 to June 23, 2022
Session 1: 3 - 3:45 p.m.
Session 2: 3:45 - 4:30 p.m.
Session 3: 4:30 - 5:15 p.m.
Session 4: 5:15 - 6 p.m.
Session 5: 6 - 6:45 p.m.
Fees: $90.00 + HST per 45 minute session
Cambridge Site: Mondays, 45 minute sessions available between 3:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. (see dates/times below)
Effective April 11, 2022 to June 27, 2022
Session 1: 3:30 - 4:15 p.m.
Session 2: 4:15 - 5 p.m.
Session 3: 5 - 5:45 p.m.
Session 4: 5:45 - 6:30 p.m.
Session 5: 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.
Fees: $90.00 per 45 minute session

Music Therapy Groups
ComMusicate™ - an innovative way to improve your child's communication skills through music!
KidsAbility
is pleased to offer this 10 week program featuring customized speech, language
and communication goals using the ComMusicate™ curriculum designed by a Music
Therapist and Speech Language Pathologist.
Created for children with communication challenges, this group-based
intervention uses kid approved songs and activities to target social
communication skills and creative self-expression. This small group for children ages 4-7 will
be facilitated by an Accredited Music Therapist and supported by a Group
Assistant along with volunteers. (Please note this program is currently on hold)
