There will be a solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Although our KidsAbility sites are slightly outside of the path of totality, it is still extremely important that caution be exercised at the start of the eclipse set to begin around 2:00 pm EST and end at approximately 4:00 pm EST in our area.
Should you be outside during the solar eclipse including entering or exiting a KidsAbility site, school, or childcare centre, driving, or participating in other outdoor-related activities, it is extremely important to never look directly at the sun during the eclipse (even during a partial eclipse) as this could cause serious damage up to and including loss of vision. Where possible, one should be mindful when driving and ensure children are supervised during the eclipse to avoid them looking at the sun, especially if they do not have access to the “eclipse glasses”.
