Seating and Mobility for Children and Youth

Imagine not having a way to get to the playground, go to a friend’s house, or go shopping at the mall. What if you had difficulty sitting up by yourself or could not sit for very long without discomfort or pain? How would you watch the school play or do your homework?

Seating and Mobility Services is here to help

We facilitate ways for children/youth to get around and participate in activities at home, school and in the community.

Our services are available at our Waterloo, Cambridge, and Guelph sites.

Assessment and Treatment

Our Seating and Mobility Services cater to children and youth with mobility needs arising from various conditions. We provide assessment and prescription of both off-the-shelf and customized equipment, including:

  • Supportive seating systems
  • Specialized stroller systems
  • Manual wheelchairs
  • Power wheelchairs and scooters

Our services go beyond assessment and equipment trials. They may also include training, adjustments to the client’s system, and consultations with other service providers, such as physiotherapists or orthopaedic surgeons. Our occupational therapists are authorized by the Assistive Devices Programs (ADP) and have specialized skills working with children and youth who need seating and mobility equipment.
